The main conference events will be held February 9 and 10, 2012 in Lakeland. There is also a Race to the Top reception planned for the evening of February 8th.

This conference will help new and experienced grant developers better serve their schools and school districts in implementing Race to the Top, understanding the state and federal legislative and funding outlook, and using powerful new tools and resources to make grant proposals and grant management more effective.

In response to the budget pressures and historic changes now affecting public education in Florida, the conference theme is: Race to Reform: Understanding the New Grants Era.

 Our planned topics include:

• The historic Empowering Effective Teachers grant funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Hillsborough County;
• Lessons learned and proposed models for improving implementation of the Race to the Top (RTTT) grant;
• The federal pay-for-performance Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) grant;
• The Governor’s new education agenda;
• Executive updates and legislative previews from Florida Department of Education leaders;
• Innovative uses of technology to improve grants management training; and
• Federal funding outlook and the reauthorization of ESEA.

 The Network has a proud history of connecting the leading grant professionals from all over Florida and providing them with face-to-face discussions with local, state, and national authorities on critical topics in grants development, management, and evaluation. This conference’s invited speakers include the Superintendent of Hillsborough Public Schools, key administrators from the Florida State Department of Education, and high-performing grant professionals from the school districts of Hillsborough, Lee, Orange, and Polk counties.  

 This conference will be of interest to school district leaders with responsibility for grants, federal projects, legislative affairs, and policy and program development.
